Aesthetic Fashion
Rick Owens & Gareth Pugh

Rick Owens is an American fashion designer born in 1961 known for his grunge glamour designs, he established his own label in 1994. he received attention when super model Kate Moss appeared in Vogue Paris wearing a leather jacket designed by him in 2001:

the following year he showed his first runway collection at the New York Fashion Week, The show was sponsored by American Vogue and Anna Wintour, who also featured him. he won CFDA award in 2002 and in 2007 he won Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award and the Fashion Group International's Rule Breaking award

as you can see above his designs are kinda aesthetic though it's from a rtw collections. he describes his designs: "It's about an elegance tinged with a bit of the barbaric, the sloppiness of something dragging and the luxury of not caring"

Rick Owens established many lines: Rick Owens, Palais Royal, DRKSHDW, RickOwensLilies and recently he debuted a furniture line

Gareth Pugh is an English fashion designer born on August 31, 1981. in 2003 he interned with Rick Owens in Paris until 2006 when he showed his first collection in London Fashion Week he kept drawing attention the following years. British Vogue, called his Spring 2007 collection "an incredible, unmissable show" and said that "his genius is undeniable." Anna Wintour is also a supporter of Pugh's designs

stars like Kylie Minogue, Róisín Murphy, Lady GaGa and Beyonce often wore his designs but not a single outfit was sold because his designs are simply unwearable for regular people thats why Rick Owens asked Gareth to include a wearable pieces to his shows cause he believed he had a commercial potential, Rick Owens own 49% of Pugh's firm.

as you can see through the years Pugh's designs became more rtw without losing the aesthetic side of his work.

i wasn't familiar with those 2 designers until recently, i really love how artistic their collections are. what i like about the aesthetic method is that runway shows are not just about clothes it's more like a well constructed art pieces, as much as i like Rick Owens i personally think Gareth Pugh topped him creatively although you can clearly see how Pugh's designs are influenced by Owens
